Breakers cares about your privacy rights, and about providing you with the information you need in order to protect them. Accordingly, we’ve created this policy to explain our privacy practices. This policy applies to breakerspac.org (the “Site”).
By providing your personal information, you consent to receive periodic updates from Breakers. If your volunteered personal information will be used in any manner other than as stated in this policy, such use of volunteered personal information shall be specifically posted. If you wish to update or remove your information, or if you do not wish your information to be shared with third parties, please contact us via the form on our website. You may also unsubscribe at any time by following the link in the footer of every email communication we send.
Information Collected About You
We collect a variety of personal information from those who sign up for updates on the Site, contribute through links on the Site, or use other functions or features of the Site. Personal information is information that can be directly associated with a specific person or entity, such as a name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, or information about activities that are directly linked to that person.
We collect information you give us when you sign up for updates or contact us. When you sign up, we collect your name, ZIP code, and email address. Contributions made through links on the Site are processed by ActBlue on its own secure platform, subject to ActBlue’s privacy policy; Breakers does not collect or store your credit card or bank account information. In connection with a contribution, we receive from ActBlue the information we need to comply with campaign finance laws, including your name, address, occupation, employer, and contribution amount.
Information you submit through our signup forms is processed and stored using our service providers, including Cloudflare (form processing), Airtable (secure storage), and Squarespace (website hosting).
You may update or remove the information you have provided at any time by contacting us.
Automatically Collected Information: We automatically receive certain types of information whenever you interact with us online. For example, when you visit the Site, our systems automatically collect your IP address and the type of browser you use. Information may be automatically collected through the use of “cookies” (more information below). We also collect “clickstream” data about your use of the Site.
How We Use Your Information
We will use your information to provide periodic updates via email and, if you opt in to receive them, text message. We will also use your information to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted us. We may disclose your personal information to third parties outside of our organization; disclosure of personal information is described further below. Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about our work, upcoming events, ways to get involved, or changes to this Privacy Policy.
Network and Information Security
Breakers uses industry-standard security systems, software, and encryption technologies, including Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption, to protect against unauthorized access to our servers, equipment, and the other components of our online presence. We restrict access to personal information about you to those people who need that information to provide services to you. Contribution processing is handled by ActBlue on its own secure platform; Breakers does not store your payment details.
You should be aware that we have no control over the security of other sites on the Internet that you might visit or interact with.
Disclosure of Personal Information
We treat information about our donors and website visitors with care. Personal information is made available to others only for the following, limited purposes:
To Comply with Campaign Finance Laws. We are often required to disclose information regarding our contributions to comply with campaign finance laws. For example, federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of individuals whose contributions to Breakers aggregate in excess of $200 in a calendar year.
To Carry Out Your Requests. We also may be required to disclose personal information in order to carry out your requests when you use the Site. For example, we will share personal information with third parties as necessary to complete a donation transaction or to deliver an e-mail to someone you have identified.
To Protect You and Ourselves. We release personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law (e.g., a lawful subpoena), to protect our rights or property, or to protect our donors and supporters from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful conduct, or if we reasonably believe that an emergency involving immediate danger of death or serious physical injury to any person requires disclosure of communications or justifies disclosure of records without delay.
To Support Candidates, Committees and Organizations. We may disclose selected personal information (other than credit card or bank information) to other campaigns, committees and organizations that we believe are like-minded or that we believe you may wish to hear from.
The above excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Cookies
We may automatically collect information using “cookies.” Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive by a website. Among other things, cookies help us improve the Site and your experience, count visits to the Site, and tailor your experience on the Site according to which areas you have visited and the preferences you have specified. These cookies may be linked to your personal information. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually set your browser to remove or reject cookies. If you choose to remove or reject cookies, this could affect certain features or services of the Site.
Web Beacons

Third Party Advertisements
We may also use third parties to show you ads for other organizations on the Site. We may also use third parties to show our ads on other organizations’ websites based on your prior visits to the Site. To show these ads, these third parties may automatically collect information about your visits to our Site and other websites, your IP address, your ISP, the browser you use to visit our Site (but not your name, address, email address or telephone number). They do this using cookies, clear gifs or other technologies. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
We do not knowingly, directly or passively, collect information from children under the age of 13. To respect the privacy of children and to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, children under the age of 13 should not provide any Personal Information on the Site. We ask that parents supervise their children while online.
Links to Other Sites
From time to time, Breakers may link to other websites not affiliated with Breakers, including those sites maintained by organizations, candidates, political committees and news media outlets, as a service to our visitors. Breakers attempts to link only to those websites which also respect a visitor’s privacy and the goals of Breakers. However, Breakers is not responsible for the content or information collection practices of those sites. Please note that these sites’ privacy policies may differ from ours. We encourage you to review and understand their privacy practices before providing them with information. If you find inoperable links or are concerned about any of the sites that Breakers currently links to, please inform Breakers by contacting us using our website.
Social Media
The Site may include social media features, such as Facebook, X, and Instagram widgets, or interactive mini-programs. These features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on the website, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on the website. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.
Updating This Policy
Breakers may revise or update this policy if our practices change, as we change existing or add new features to the Site, or as we develop better ways to inform you of features and services we think will be of interest. You should refer back to this page often for the latest information. If we decide to change this policy, we will post a new policy on our Site and change the date at the top of the policy.
